Updates this Year

  • Changes – If you have attended The Weaving in the past, please note that the format of the ritual is changing this year. We are retiring the Witnessing section (it was originally intended to be its own ritual) in order to have more time to focus on vision.
  • Participation – We ask all participants this year – both drummers and dancers – to work with a nature spirit or elemental. Our drummers will be joined by Todd Glacy’s wonderful ritual percussion group BhavaVibe Rhythm Tribe.
  • Camping – Limited to graduating Year One apprentices and Druid College Alumni only. 
  • Passing the torch – This year we are honoring Kevin’s retirement and passing the leadership of Druid College to Karon, Jeremiah, Daniel, and Falkyn. Kevin will be in attendance as a participant only. Please direct all questions to the others so he can enjoy not being in charge :). We are deeply grateful for Kevin’s wonderful years of service as Founder of The Weaving and Druid College! 

Information for Attendees 

  • The purpose of The Weaving is to seek vision for our community. Participants can either drum or dance, and each person is invited to trance with a nature or elemental spirit they feel drawn to work with.
  • We invite the pagan community and all who practice earth-based spirituality. This ritual is open to anyone who identifies as druid, pagan, or has an earth-based spiritual practice.
  • We ask all attendees to participate. This is not a passive event where a few people lead and others witness. This is not for consumption or entertainment. The Weaving is an expression of perfect equality as we all work to open our souls to the spirits of the land, to each other, and to the gods. The strength of this ritual will rest on what we are able build together as equals. This cannot be understated. When we gather, we grow stronger.
  • Please arrive in a posture of reverence, respect, and a mindset of being in ritual. Help us nurture a collaborative sacred space and experience for all attendees. 
  • Children are not permitted at this event. Since we will be engaging in trance, this ritual is not child-friendly, and we won’t have children’s activities. This will be a ritual of deep inner work, sharing, and celebration. We will leave it up to the parents to decide if young adults (older teens) are mature enough to attend such a rite.
  • There is no cost for attending. We ask that you bring a food dish to share and stay for the whole event. 

What to bring

  • Mask or ritual garb representing the nature spirit you will be dancing or drumming with. This can be very simple or as elaborate/creative as you wish.
  • Altar items – There will be a community altar present. Please bring any item you wish to add to the altar. For those of you who have lost loved ones or wish to honor ancestors, you can bring photos and family heirlooms. Crafting the altar as a community is a powerful exercise, and together our altar will shine with beauty.
  • Weaving items – During this ritual, we weave a tapestry as an outward manifestation of the ways we weave our lives together in community and in service. Please bring natural yarns, ribbons, feathers, flowers, cloth etc. to add to the weaving. The weaving frame is approximately 3×3 feet, for scale. The weaving is left to decompose with the elements for the rest of the year, so natural materials are preferable.
  • A dish for the feast – After the Weaving, we have a big communal feast, potluck style. Please bring a dish to share and a mess kit (reusable plate, fork, cup). Please also label your dish – tell us what you made – including any dietary or allergy information.
  • Full list of what to bring:
    • All your pagan friends! Please invite them and ask them each to register.
    • Animal/Elemental masks for the trance dance
    • Drum or rattle for the drum circle (percussion instruments only)
    • Ritual items that call to you for altar and the weaving
    • A camp chair
    • Water bottle
    • A blanket or shawl
    • A flashlight could be handy
    • A food dish to share for the feast
    • Snacks for yourself, if needed
    • A mess kit – plate, bowl, knife, fork, spoon, cup, and cloth napkin (there are no kitchen items to borrow)
    • Camping equipment if you are spending the night (camping is currently limited to current apprentices and Druid College alumni, please contact us if you would like to camp. Please note that if you camp, this is very rustic camping. There will be a porta potty but no shower access. Please bring your own water.)

  • Parking, Location, Access, & Logistics: Information will be provided once you register, as this event is held at a private home. There is parking on site and we try to make sure the event is accessible. For any questions or accommodations needs, please contact us.
  • Inclusive and safe space: We welcome BIPOC, LGBTQIA2+, people with neurodivergence, and people with different abilities. We vociferously reject bigotry, white supremacy, patriarchy, and any forms of inequality or division. 
  • Drug and alcohol policy: This is a substance-free event. Drugs, alcohol, psilocybin, vaping, and marijuana are not allowed. If you need to smoke, please do so near the parking area. 
  • Clothing policy: This is a clothing-required event. Nudity (aka skyclad) is not permitted.
  • Cultural appropriation: Please respect closed spiritual and religious traditions, such as Indigenous spirituality. Participate within the respectful boundaries of your own traditions.
