BOOKS RECOMMENDATIONS
As Druidry has long been an oral tradition, it’s a great idea to read books in audiobook form so you can walk outside, craft, or meditate while you listen.
- The Path of Druidry:Walking the Ancient Green Way by Penny Billington – a great introduction to basic druid practices such as connecting to nature through mindful walking, journaling, and basic ritual. It also includes reflections on Celtic mythology and historical works such as the Mabinogion.
- Living Druidry: Magical Spirituality for the Wild Soul by Emma Restall Orr (a.k.a. Bobcat). Bobcat has written many incredible books, they are all worth a look! You may also enjoy Ritual: A Guide to Life, Love and Inspiration and Spirits of the Sacred Grove.
- The Druidry Handbook by John Michael Greer – a more in-depth look at modern druidry by the former leader of the Ancient Order of Druids in America.
- Wild Magic: Celtic Folk Traditions for the Solitary Practitioner by Danu Forest – this is an introduction to “re-wilding”, working with spirit guides, and getting to know old Celtic mythology, stories, and symbolism.
- Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer – while not expressly druidic, this gorgeous book by an Indigenous ecologist is highly synchronous with druidic philosophy, eco-justice, and healing our connection to the natural world.
